LOVE THIS!
i am a lucky, lucky DM
I am a DM in California and am starting a fresh campaign with my group of players July 2011. The game will be based on the Pathfinder rules and its setting Golaria. We are beginning with D0 "Hollow's Last Hope". It is my intention to offer this blog as a running history of the game play and I invite comments to my posts here. GAME ON!

Best way to start an adventuring party
DM: "You're in a bar, sitting at a table when SUDDENLY..."
Ah the classic start.
So with this new campaign i have a few options on how to have the characters come together over all. The actual immediate beginning is established in the pre-written module and i think the beginning is funny so i'm going to keep it.
For overall reason to come together some options are:
1. PCs came to Falcon's Hollow while guarding a merchant caravan
2. PCs were born and raised in Falcon's Hollow and now that they are of age, look for something beyond the sawdust and petty intrigues
3. PCs are wandering souls who came this way overland and upon spending the night the next morning check the commotion in town
Or some combination of these. I wouldn't mind if there was a mix of these reasons. Everyone will be tied in altogether soon enough! :D

Wow! holy player support
Upon sending out that original e-mail to the group about pre-gen'd PCs vs players making their own, one in our group replies:
"Premade background, premade character, whatever you like. I'm up for anything as long as it's awesome, and I have no doubt of that. Whatever you want to have one of in the party to make the game better, I'll play that."
NICE.
This is the kind of thing I can leverage to get the party the right composition.
Thank YOU hitherto unnamed player!

Falcon's Hollow [town in northern Andoran]
Falcon's Hollow is a town in Darkmoon Vale, in the northern section of the nation of Andoran. The settlement sits only a short distance from Darkmoon Wood and is little more than a logging village, comprised almost exclusively of lumbermen in the employ of the Lumber Consortium and their families. With few exceptions, the buildings and their inhabitants belong to the Consortium and totally depend on the overpriced goods delivered by the organization.
Falcon's Hollow is located a short distance south of Darkmoon Wood, and many of the inhabitants of the community work as loggers within the forest's confines in the employ of the Lumber Consortium; roads radiating from the town often lead to lumber camps operating on the edge of the treeline. The volcano Droskar's Crag dominates the skyline to the northwest, and its presence is felt throughout the region in the form of mudpots, geysers, and areas of past lava flow. The River Foam acts as the southern boundary of Falcon's Hollow, as it passes southeast through the Darkmoon Plain. The settlement boasts the flow's only ferry, a fact that helps secure the Consortium's hold on the region as currently no bridges span the river to provide other means of easy passage.
Notable locations include the Hollow Tribunal, the Lumber Consortium Headquarters, and a small Temple of Iomedae.

OK.. i'm pretty fuckin' excited
So yeah i am staring this new Pathfinder campaign with the gaming group. I've been reading and reading and reading the online Pathfinder wiki and SRD. I've been studying the Golarian map and picked on my own what seemed to be the right starting point for the first adventure series. Andoran & Taldor seem the two kingdoms the most natural and immediately playable, if that is a word. Then i found D0 free online and it is OFF TO THE RACES *grin*
I am excited to start this new campaign with my gaming friends. We were playing 4.0 D&D in a world i created (maps stolen from online sources). I really like 3.0 and 3.5 rules so i will feel more comfortable i think. We'll see. And with a Pathfinder campaign i feel i can put in as much or as little time as i have each week. I don't want to sound like a lazy ass DM of course. I love gaming and can't wait to start!
So thanks in advance to the readers of this blog, thanks in advance to my players.
GAME ON!

Hey friends! So for Monday gaming after A. is done with his series I was thinking of starting a new one.
Are you guys opposed to me making a batch of characters w/ backgrounds?
we'd probably do dice off for who picks first from the PCs available ... not that any will be lame. they would all be cool as fuck. but i like people having preference choice at some level.
If you ***MUST*** make your own characters goddammit it would be good at least if i could give you backgrounds for each - this way introducing the new campaign thru the eyes of your PC
please chime in so i get a feel of how people would like to start.
THANK YOU AND
AMERICA! FUCK YEAH!
